The Complete Haulover Beach Parking Guide
The single most asked question about Haulover, answered once and for all. Where to park, what it costs, when the lot fills, and every backup plan.
Rates, hours, and lot details last verified against Miami-Dade County Parks on July 10, 2026.
Which Lot to Use for the Clothing-Optional Section
Haulover Beach Park sits at 10800 Collins Ave, Bal Harbour, FL 33154, on the 1.4-mile stretch of beachfront between Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles Beach. The clothing-optional section is the northern one-third of the beach, between lifeguard towers #12 and #16.
Miami-Dade County sends clothing-optional visitors to one of two lots: the North Lot, which you reach through the Haulover Marine Center's boat ramps entrance, or Lot #1. From either one, walk through pedestrian tunnel #4 or #5 to get to the beach. You never cross Collins Ave on foot.
Those are the same two lots that carry the $1 weekday surcharge. It buys you a shorter walk, and it is the single dollar most worth spending at this beach.
Enter the park from Collins Ave (A1A). One thing worth knowing before you go: the North Lot and Lot #1, the ones closest to the clothing-optional section, carry a small weekday surcharge. Worth it to walk less.
Rates, Hours, and How to Pay
Parking is run by Miami-Dade County Parks and paid through PayByPhone. Use the app, register your vehicle at PayByPhone.com, or call 1-866-234-7275. Set it up before you go. Standing in a hot parking lot creating an account is nobody's idea of a beach day.

When the Lot Fills (and How to Beat It)
- Sunday, 11 AM to 3 PM, is the crunch. Miami-Dade names this window specifically: during the summer season and on holiday weekends, that is peak visitation. Lots can close when they hit capacity.
- Weekdays are wide open. Outside of holidays, midweek visits rarely have parking trouble at any hour, and the car rate drops to $7.
- If the North Lot and Lot #1 are full, park further south in the park and walk north up the beach. It is a longer walk on sand, but it beats a U-turn home.
- Afternoon second wave. Early arrivals start clearing out mid-afternoon, and the entrance line does move.
- Holiday weekends are the boss level. Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day. Come early or come late, not at noon.
Two Rules People Learn the Hard Way
- No flotation devices. Any of them. Chapter 26 of the Code of Miami-Dade, Rule 16: no person, minor or adult, may enter the water at any bathing area wearing, carrying, pushing, or towing a flotation device. Leave the pool noodles and the inflatable flamingo in the car.
- The green safari hats are there to help. Volunteer beach ambassadors staff the clothing-optional section and will happily answer the question you are too embarrassed to ask. Look for the hats.
